Diary

One way to create a sense of continuity and structure in the patient’s life is to write a diary.

  • If possible, the carer and patient can do this together.
  • Describing the major and minor events of daily life also enables any home carers or other close family members, such as children and grandchildren, to relate more easily to what is happening and become acquainted with your day-to-day life together.
  • The time spent discussing what to write, and then reading it again together, may perhaps on a later occasion provide an opportunity for fellowship and a sense of belonging in big or small ways.
