Research shows that the health of family carers is often at risk. It is important, therefore, that family members do not become completely consumed by their role as a carer.
Above all, have the courage to ask for help. When the situation is very difficult, it is easy to eat the wrong foods, skip mealtimes and neglect exercising by taking daily walks in the fresh air, for example. Get in touch with your friends and try to maintain these relationships. Perhaps your friends might come with you on some of your walks? Try to maintain your hobbies. Many places have associations for family members where you can receive advice and support and exchange experiences with people in a similar situation to your own.
